Borak Arts Series 2016 was held on Aug 27 & 28, 2016 at Georgetown, Penanga, Malaysia. We were invited to deliver the Key Note Address by MyPAA.  It is conceptualized and organised by MyPAA, an agency based at Kuala Lumpur, working for supporting artistic and cultural efforts in Malaysia, aims at providing opportunity for building alliances, strengthen relations and spark meaningful conversations for the art workers. 

In its fourth year in 2016, Borak Arts Series had the theme 'Bringing Arts Closer to Home' bringing together interdisciplinary art practitioners, promoters, supporters, human rights activists, civil society organisations, cultural organisations and art businesses. The conference explored ways of encouraging cultural mobility and creating alliances to assist building a conducive performing arts ecosystem and strengthening relationships and cooperation across ASEAN communities. 

Speakers like Joanna Sherman of Bond Street Theatre, New York and Mr. AKM Mohsin of Banglar Kantha shared how they are using various art streams like theatre, poetry to actively and meaningfully engage communities and strengthening the identity and voices of the marginalised and left outs.  





In the key note address, Sayantani, General Manager – Communications, banglanatak dot com  shared how we have used traditional art to address the core developmental challenges at the grassroots of India using our culture & development model.

Waste to Wealth: Towards a Greener Tomorrow

Reflecting on our impactful workshop on waste management and regenerative agriculture.   The changing nature of work where more focus is given on acquiring specific variety of skills, including knowing certain technical tools, life skills, negotiation skills etc., dialogues on how to equip workers on up skilling and re-skilling becomes important.
